Brain Aneurysm
Brain aneurysm is generally the swelling or bellowing in the vessels of the brain. This is due to the weakness of the walls of the vessels. A brain aneurysm can be compared with a weak spot in a balloon that looks thin and stretched. It is like a weak spot in the walls of the vessels of the brain. And with the continuous flow of blood, it sometimes gets bulged out and filled with blood and looks like a bubble filled with water.
Brain aneurysm is not a serious problem. One can live a long and happy life without being aware of it. But it becomes critical and serious the time it gets ruptured. This rupture causes the leakage of blood from the vessels into the brain, which causes a hemorrhagic stroke. This may lead to a more serious problem called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Treatment of an unruptured aneurysm can prevent it from rupturing in the future.
SYMPTOMS:
1- For a ruptured aneurysm
- Sudden and severe headache
If a person feels a regular headache that suddenly happens and has a high intensity, the person must consult a doctor as this may be the symptom of a brain aneurysm.
- Seizure
If there are sudden mood swings, change in behavior, and change in the level of move consciousness, then this may be the symptom of a brain aneurysm. This causes a sudden stroke in the brain, and the person must consult a doctor immediately.
- Sensitivity to light
Sometimes a person becomes highly sensitive to light. In this condition, it sometimes becomes difficult for the person to stay in high lights. So during this situation, the person must consult a doctor as this may be the cause of the brain aneurysm.
- Blurred or double vision
This is considered as the best symptom to check for the brain aneurysm. In this, the person may not be able to see things clearly or sometimes have a double vision. This may be due to the leakage of blood in the brain.
- Loss of consciousness
In this, the person can lose his or her consciousness and can become faint. This is also a serious symptom.
2- For an unruptured aneurysm
- Dilated pupil
In the third symptom, the size of the pupil, which is controlled by the iris gets enlarged as compared to the normal size. And this may also lead to a large amount t of light to enter into the eye. Thus, it makes the person sensitive to light.
- Numbness and dullness of one side of the face
It means that the person may lose the sensitivity of one side of the face. Thus, it let the person not feel anything on one side of the face.
- Double or change of vision
Due to the leakage of blood in the brain, the brain starts malfunctioning. This may lead to blurred vision or doubled vision.
- Pain above and behind one eye
In this symptom, there is a regular pain above the eyes and below the forehead. And also, the area behind the eyes starts remaining in pain.
Causes:
There is no particular or single cause of brain aneurysm, but it depends on many factors. These factors may be:
- Cigarette smoking
Cigarette smoking may lead to the weakness of the vessels of the brain. Thus make them rupture or bulge up.
- Heavy alcohol consumption
Another cause of brain aneurysm is heavy alcohol consumption as their type of activity make the brain unconscious some times and may lead to a brain aneurysm.
- Older age
With an increase in age, all the organs of the body also become older. Also, the vessels of the brain become week and prone to a brain aneurysm.
- Inhered connective tissue disorder
This type of disorder generally affects the skin and joints. This also makes the joints of the vessels week and loose.
- Abnormally narrow aorta
In this situation, the heart may pump the blood abnormally. It sometimes pumps a large amount of blood that may increase the pressure on the weak walls of brain vessels.
- Brain AVM
Sometimes there is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels .the vessels connect the blood capillaries and the brain. Due to these tangles, sometimes there is a blockage of blood in some of the vessels, which may lead to a bubble of blood in the brain.
- Family medical history
If there is any proof of brain aneurysm in the medical history of a person, then the person can acquire it. This simply means that this disease can pass from generation to generation.
